The Beluga is a 102 carat oval that was cut by the William Goldberg firm from a rather flat, blocky 265.82 carat piece of rough, and is claimed to be the largest F flawless standard oval brilliant cut diamond in the world.
The odd-shaped stone arrived as a 265.82 carat rough with secrets waiting to be revealed. But its interior and any imperfections were hidden by its frosted exterior. The first cut uncovered its rare quality. A risk handsomely rewarded. After several months of patiently cutting and polishing the diamond, the Beluga emerged.
The Beluga is featured here were the smaller stones that were cut from the 265.82 piece of rough.
The rectangular-looking stone in the center is an Ashoka cut (shape) which was developed by the world-renowned William Goldberg firm. On the right is a triangular or heart shape and on the one on the left appears to be another Ashoka cut or possible a standard cushion cut.
