Idex Online is reporting that a pear-shaped, D color, flawless diamond weighing 101.73 carat is likely to be the highlight of Christie’s Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva on May 15. We think it will be.
The sale will feature more than 300 lots which are estimated to sell for a total of around $65 million.
Among the other exceptional diamonds on offer will be a cushion-shaped stone weighing 76.91 carat with a pre-sale estimate of $6.5 million-$8.5 million, and an extremely rare fancy red diamond ring estimated to sell for $2 million-$3 million.
Among the colored gemstones to be sold is the Star of Kashmir sapphire, and a 23-carat fine Colombian emerald ring.
There will also be a necklace set with 23 natural pearls with a pre-sale estimate of $2 million-$3 million, and what the auctioneer described as the largest pair of natural drop-shaped pearls ever recorded with a pre-sale estimate of $1.3 million-$2.5 million.
The auction will also feature many jewels from major private collections, including a diamond ring by British jeweler Laurence Graff with a pre-sale estimate of $2.4 million-$3.4 million.
Meanwhile, there is also a selection of important period and signed jewelry, including iconic creations from the 20th century and jewelry with aristocratic provenance.
