Esperanza – Stanley Jewelers Gemologist Release

visiting the park. The Esperanza diamond is one of the largest rough diamonds ever found in the state park, and Stanley’s has invited fellow American Gem Society (AGS) member Mike Botha, master cutter of Embee Diamond Tech, to come to Little Rock to cut the diamond in-store during a special event starting September 9th. This will be the public’s first chance to take a look at the magnificent stone and a unique opportunity to watch a master craftsman’s precision as he cuts and shapes the rough stone to bring out its inherent beauty, value and luminosity.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the unveiling of the Esperanza diamond,” said Laura Stanley, Vice President of Stanley Jewelers Gemologist and active AGS member. “It is the fifth largest diamond to be uncovered at the Crater of Diamonds. We’re not sure how large the stone will be once it is cut, but we are hopeful it will be five carats, which would make it the fourth largest cut diamond to ever come from the park.”
Botha plans to bring special equipment to precisely cut the ‘Esperanza’ diamond into a unique and beautiful shape during the in-store cutting event. Once the cut has been perfected and polished, it will go to AGS Laboratories for a final diamond grading report.
